Week 1: The Beginning

If you’re reading this we have now begun our journey. We had decided early on for the beginning of our trip we wanted to use our credit card points that we had been saving to purchase business class seats because we had never experienced it. After a lot of searching we found business class seats through Air Serbia for a total of 160,000 + $130. These seats would normally retail for $2,100 per person. Not only that but it was the business class with seats that reclined like a bed.

Once we arrived to the airport we had the option of going to a few different lounges, so we selected the Air France lounge. There were only a few people in the lounge and it was fairly quiet inside. They had a nice selection of food. There was a capri salad, Lorraine quiche, scalloped potatoes, cod in caper sauce, a baked chicken in an olive sauce, various cheeses and some other accompaniments. As for drinks it was self serve, there was various shooter smoothies, bottled waters, bottled beers, various spirits and wines. The food and the drinks were great, I would definitely come back to this lounge. Access to the lounge costs $30-$50 per person and I would consider paying that to have that access again.

The Flight

Upon arriving on the flight within minutes of getting to your seat they start offering you beverages. There was ample space for you in your little pod, at least enough to really stand without bumping into anyone. A cool feature of the chair was that it had a massage option, although you could just barely feel it, I liked having that option. I will say the movie/show selection was lacking compared to other airlines.

Shortly after the flight took off they begun taking our orders. I had Prosecco in a real glass brought to me along with a small plate of warm nuts. My appetizer was a smoked salmon salad, which I thought was good, I certainly wouldn’t have had that option in economy. Aaron said he couldn’t really taste the salmon. We then had our entree delivered which was a beef dish ( didn’t say what type) with polenta ( tasted more like mashed potatoes) and some broccoli. Overall it was a good dish, and I would not mind having it again. I also had a glass of white wine with my meal which iI thought was delicious especially considering all wines I’ve had on a plane were meh. It was very refreshing with notes of peach and floral. I had passed on dessert which was a chocolate tarte. I was already being greedy having the plane food so I really didn’t need anymore.

The toiletries came in a nice hardshell container that I would have kept if I had anymore room. It contained a miniature toothbrush/toothpaste which was refreshing to use, earplugs, eye mask, socks, hand cream and lip balm. As it got later I reclined my chair back to a fully laid back position which was quite nice and they even had a comfortable blanket . It did get a little hot throughout the evening, you could not control the temperature in your pod.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my time in business class and would love to do it again. Unfortunately my wallet is not made for business class, so back to economy I go.
